  Nutrition and Food Science International Journal Abstract Background: A bidirectional relationship exists between nutrition and HIV/AIDS. Poor nutrition has been associated with unsuppressed viral loads among People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH) while HIV infection leads to poor nutrition. HIV treatment, care and support efforts should thus incorporate nutrition management. Despite the fact that various scholars have researched the dietary status of PLWH, there is paucity of explorative research exploring factors that drive feeding practice among adult PLWH. Prevalence of obesity has doubled in the last 25 years. In the United States, 17-th on the list of most obese places in the world - average BMI 28.8 Kg/m2, more than 60% of reproductive-age women are overweight and 35% are obese, representing a 70% increase in pre-pregnancy obesity. In Romania, 75th on the list- average BMI is 22.2 Kg/m2, the lowest average BMI in the European Union (9.4% obesity in 2016). [1] One of three Romanians is overweight, and one of four is obese. There are over 3.5 million obese in Romania. The highest obesity rate is recorded in Moldova, where the percentage is 23.8%. Only 10% of them see a doctor. These children are 3.5 times more likely to contract a foodborne illness than children cared for in other settings. Proper hand hygiene practices have been identified as the most important practice to mitigate the spread of foodborne illnesses. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore hand hygiene training opportunities given to childcare food handlers in childcare facilities; as well as explore what food safety training childcare directors currently possess. Results showed directors received food safety training yet did not always pass the training along to their employees. A lack of written hand hygiene policies was identified, as well as lack of childcare employee training for hand hygiene on the topics of hand washing and glove use.
